"As a prominent artist and social activist based in Israel, I consider it vital to bring people together through music. Much of my time is spent in workshops I have set up in the Shuafat refugee camp where I teach young kids rhythm patterns and melody, and in collaborating with Palestinian musicians in an effort to create bridges. Nusrat is a media executive who has dedicated his career to creating change through music, amplifying unheard voices, and telling stories that need to be told. We worked together on "Rebel Music", a compelling series featuring artists fighting oppression in the Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia and Native America, and I starred in the Israel/Palestine episode because of my work with youth in East Jerusalem and Palestinian musicians such as vocalist Mira Award and rapper Muhammad Mughrabi.  I saw first-hand the power of media to change the narrative and broaden the perspective by including voices of youth, an important segment we don't often hear from in places of conflict.
