Women of the Future

What kind of country desecrates the rights of its women?

Usually we associate this with fascist regimes, autocracies run by maniacal madmen, tinpot dictatorships, governments we critique and try to rehabilitate.

How ironic that the USA, one of the leading advocates for women’s rights around the world should emerge as callous in their treatment as the savage regimes we once disdained. The fight for women’s reproductive rights shouldn’t be a fight left to them. We are all in this together. It’s a fight for equity that impacts us all.

I am so fortunate to have incredible, strong, courageous, visionary women in my life. In this photo, I’m with my daughter Laila Durrani, Mareme Dieng, Carlota Rodriguez Benito, Kahina Bahloul, Ekaterina Ignatenko, and Adah Paris, women around the world creating the future of education, film, beauty, finance, spirituality, and mental health.

A future without equal rights for women and minorities is bleak, barren and scary. It gives me hope that so many men and women I know are fighting to stop us from sliding into the ditch of despair the scared, sick, out of touch men in power are trying to push us into.
